As always… thank you for your time and enlightening us! I always learn a lot. Looking forward to continuing the Plantagenets on This Is History! And your new book on Henry V next fall !
Question for January's edition of the Substack q&a
( from me, Julie - henceforth to be known as " Chalke Valley lady" as I seem to reference this festival every time I see you ..or indeed accost you for another signed book in the Waterstones tent.....)
Anyway, it seems to me that part of the joy of being a historian is the research. Visiting new towns for archive material, libraries for rare book/ manuscripts etc. As more material is digitalised, and AI becomes more accessible/' powerful', do you think this will result in the death of painstaking hours of research?
See you at the National Portrait gallery in the NY! Have a good one.
Thanks for always answering my questions Dan, I am really enjoying this as much, if not more, than the FB lives! I found Patrick on here so I'm going to give him a sub and check his page. Really really appreciate all you do for your supporters, it truly feels like a 'community' even though you are correct, it is overused. And Thanks for the shoutout of my substack now I'm motivated to keep at it! - happy holidays from a long time fan and supporter of yours 💗 Amy Rodriguez
Thank you for taking the time and effort for your readers and fans. I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your family - my two girls would love a woof out from Prince if he has a moment!

Looking forward to the house of lilies. Happy that this is in the works. Your books always had me wondering about the other side of the story!
What made you choose Substack over Patreon?

Thank you for answering my question.
Great idea to do this once a month.
Learning a lot of the English history (in The Netherlands you hardly learn anything about the English history in school).
Merry Christmas from the Stripey Badgers, Dan. Looking forward to seeing you in 2024
Thanks for the recommendations, Dan.
(I'm absolutely in love with the domino set).
Thanks Dan 💙
