Could we have a few episodes on Richard The Lionheart please? Some on his time in Sicily and Cyprus. Of course his time in the Holy Land and what happened between then and his death. Thanks.

Sounds good- make sure at least a few of them take place on a beach in the Mediterranean.

Came here to say pretty much the same.

His (and Joan’s) time in Sicily would be interesting. The story of Joan being shipped off at such a young age to the middle of the Mediterranean is always disturbing to me…on one hand. But, it’s nice she enjoyed got to enjoy better weather for the rest of her life. Sicily is the best.

Also, there is a story the tour guides in Dubrovnik, Croatia told me about the Lionheart crashing onto an island nearby. The townspeople of what was then Dubrovnik saved his life and he then sponsored a church in town. True?

I like the thought of the Plantagenants crashing around warmer seas on their holidays. Tell us more, plz.

I just binged all of season 1 and I loved it- I learned so much that I did not know- especially about William Marshall and the Young King.

One question - about Thomas Becket…years ago I read a book called the Quest for Becket’s Bones. Theory was that his relics were too sacred and important for the monks to turn them over to Cromwell and his henchmen- so they hid him in the Cathedral.

Where he remains to this day.

Any thoughts? And would that make an interesting episode?

What a small, strange world it is. I’m a recent subscriber, and didn’t know about your podcast. As I was looking it up, I realized that I had bought your book on the Plantagenets two weeks ago, and have it lined up to read over the upcoming holidays. Now that I’ve listened to your last podcast, it might move up in reading order 😀

I know it isn’t the Plantagenets but it is War of the Roses....Jasper Tudor. Just fascinated by this man and would love your very unique take on him since most reads about Jasper are a bit boring! Would love to see him Dansplained!

So many great historians writing about the Plantagenet era. Catherine Hanley on the relationship between England and France, also her books on Matilda and Dauphin Louis's invasion. Helen Carr on John of Gaunt. John Guy on Becket, Thomas Asbridge on William Marshal, Helen Castor on the queens in She-Wolves, Marc Morris on John and Edward I, Juliet Barker on the English occupation of France in the 15th century, Ian Mortimer on Isabella and Roger Mortimer as well as his theories about Edward II. Would love you to keep going with the whole Plantagenet story, especially after reading both The Plantagenets & Hollow Crown this year. The podcast has been great, especially the extra subscriber episodes, thank you!

I’m so looking forward to bonus episodes diving into John’s character and behavior during his reign

Cover the whole book! Seems like a straightforward suggestion but a series on Henry III - then on to Edward 1 and his conquests, Edward 2 and his favouritism culminating in the Mortimer uprising, followed by the Hundred Years War under the 3rd Edward! Then another season on Richard II and the end of the Plantagenets. I don't know about everyone else but I do a lot of driving and these podcasts are keeping me going through the speakers so, selfishly, don't stop until it's all covered.

With the complexity of the Plantagenet family relations, we will be enjoying your podcasts for years! And enjoying every moment. During the loss of her freedom, is Eleanor allowed knowledge of her children’s, more specifically, Richard’s military campaigns and alignment with Phillip?
