Any idea why elephants were involved? Is there historical custom for elephants to be involved with Magna Carta celebrations? Or just the usual excessive Imperialism?

The vicar probably regretted he hadn't signed up for any pageant that involved cardinal Wolsey, so he could have ridden a donkey (cue jokes about else one can do with a donkey 😉 ).

I ordered Magna Carta three weeks ago, and it arrived yesterday. I hope to start reading it sometime this week. It seems that for Essex's dogs I will have to wait until Christmas.

While I was at Windsor Castle, the tour guide, though otherwise excellent, forgot to point out Runnymede. He pointed out Eton College. I only know he forgot because the tour director asked if he pointed it out. Oh well
