I agree on the traveling alone thing. Inspired by Pierre Berton's The National Dream and The Last Spike I took the train from Toronto to Vancouver (4400km) and back (another 4400km). I wanted to see my beautiful country from that point of view and not just from the air. I did it in my early thirties and I loved it.
Hi Dan! Thanks for answering my question even after I accidentally misquoted you, sorry for that. Only when you read my question out loud did I realise how miserably I wrote it.😶🌫️🙈 Loved hearing your point of view, thanks for that!
Hi Dan - don’t know if you’re familiar with Josh Gates - archeologist and explorer who has an Expedition Unknown series here in the US
I’m probably misspeaking in using the term “diary” but I first learned about this when I saw this particular episode about searching for King John’s lost Crown Jewels in The Wash.
I think this was done in 2020 but I clearly remember he interviewed a couple of people from I believe the Records Office, who showed him some documents and commented that they were able to follow his movements because he left this detailed record.
You can see the entire episode on Prime Video or Fandango or Mac or Apple TV
