I'm getting into the Last Kingdom, which I know is based on a book series of historical fiction. Do you have any favorite kings in England before 1066?
How do you keep track of random good ideas and thoughts that pop into your head when walking, sleeping, etc - I presume that creative inspiration doesn't only appear when sitting at your desk. So do you have a system or just random notes to yourself you find years later? Thanks for doing this when you are so busy btw.
I’m looking for thesis topics and one I’m thinking about are the Assassins. (The other was the Fall of the Templars but that may be overdone). Can you point me to any great sources or books I could read to do some primary research? I’ve already ordered a book by Bernard Lewis.
Whilst the rest of the country will be fixated on a, so called, music competition tonight, there will be a tiny pocked attending their end of season rugby dinner. Our guest speaker is Nigel Owens. Who from the middle ages would you invite as a guest speaker to a similar even?
Hypothetical - If Matilda had been named co-monarch by Henry I and became "Matilda the Young Queen" (like Henry II/Young Henry), would it have changed anything? ("This Is History" inspired thought as I am going back to relisten to season 1 in between waiting for episodes in season 2).
Hey Dan, have you read Edwin Pace's 2021 book, "The Long War for Britannia 367-664"? If not, it is pretty good, so I recommend it. If you have read it, do you agree with Pace that Vortigern is just a titular name for Ambrosius Aurelianus? I know it may be a bit earlier than your specialty but I'm curious of your view...
Hi Dan - Just finished Harlequin by Cornwell - I was interested in the difference in approach he took to the Black Prince. Is there any historical evidence - he was - as you portrayed him - a spoilt brat and a bit of a turd?
I have no questions....too busy maximizing the picture and trying to decipher your handwriting 🕵️♀️
What would your playlist be if you were being crowned king?
If you could only keep three books from your shelves, which would they be?

Who’s medieval coronation would you have like to attend?

Is the wolves trilogy going to be your only venture into fiction or do you think this’ll be the start ?

Do you think Putin will outlive Biden?
Do you think Twitter will survive Musk?
Do you think the USA will be a Democracy, such as it is, in 2050?
If Charles arm wrestled Trump, what would be the outcome?
You said anything!
1 - yes, but Biden wonbe president when he does unlike Putin
2 Yes, new CEO has been announced but it won't be the same. Times change
3 Yes
4 Doesn't matter about the outcome Trump will be the winner in his eyes
Well I feel a lot better now, especially about #3
Now # 5 City or Real Madrid?
Tough call, City obviously looking for that first win but Real have the full experience of multiple wins
How did you like Pasadena? When I lived in California it was one of my favorite places.

Dan answered, I’m shocked, I meant that for you. He’s taking City Of course now we know he’s a fan of renegade Amish people so…😂
We will see if City is for Real
Pun intended
