How exciting! The cartoon is fun, but it doesn’t really do you justice.

Wow, congrats! I happen to be a Times subscriber, so no issue reading it. Very fun article. That summer house in Crete sounds amazing, what a place to relax. On a quick side note, my hubby ran out of library books to read, so I handed him Essex Dogs (I have the special signed copy) and he finished it in two days. He's already halfway through Wolves of Winter! Nice when your spouse is a Dan Jones convert :)

Is this the author equivalent of getting on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine? I know the New York Times is sorta kinda a big deal. Congratulations!

Hey Dan,

I didn't have to subscribe to access the article. Of course, they tried to sell me a subscription but I politely declined and I could still read the interview. To be frank, you sounded really posh because I had to Google a lot of those references...

I’m no longer a Times subscriber, but has no problem accessing the article. Great interview! I’m anxious to get my hands on a Anna Komnene volume!

Was able to read it without acquiring the puzzles and recipes. Thank-you very much for the mention of “The Wake” by Paul Kingsnorth , I enjoyed working my way through the Anglish I also enjoyed your reference to X signatures. I treasure the copy of a page from the records of St Stephen’s church in Little Downham Cambridgeshire that shows my Great grandmother’s signature ( a spinster) and my great Grsndfather’s X ( a laborer), on their wedding, Christmas Eve , 1885.
