Gorgeous pic! Mosaics are fantastic. Never been to Ravenna, but my favorite ones are in Monreale Cathedral in Sicily. I could spend all day staring up at those beauties (with occasional pasta and wine breaks, of course)😉

I visited Ravenna on a daytrip from Bologna last September. The mosaics can be viewed at several places, and they're absolutely gorgeous. Not only that, the floors of the Basilica di San Vitale are wonderful as well. We tend to gaze only upwards, but looking down has its merits too.

It is always a good day when you are contributing to it. Thank you for the lovely picture. Where would you be if it were not for the damned pandemic. Signing my book in America perhaps.

Would you consider the brigands who Barbara Tuchman talks about in A Distant Mirror to be “outlaws” or are they a different group altogether? Such as Arnaut de Cervole or Sir Robert Knollys and the likes?

That photo is stunning. Mosaic art is definitely something to learn about, patronages, etc.

The reminder is one function I've never used in Google Calendar and no longer being on Facebook means I don't have an online nudge either.

Looking forward to the bad Princes and Outlaws, apart from Dick Turpin and Robin Hood, I'm not up on outlaws, so will be interesting.
