Listen now | This week's podcast features marginalia, the Trial of the Templars, Edward III's D-Day, mass murderers, sympathy with the Cornish and an infinite stack of pizzas stretching out to infinity
I know you thank us each week for subscribing to the stack.
Can I take this opportunity to return those thanks and say thank you for the expanded 2022 substack content. It is very much expanding my knowledge and no merch to be seen!!!!
I will be the first to admit that the last year got really wierd (if you know you know) so it is nice to take a step back and enjoy all this for what it is.
In everyone's defense James we were all locked in our homes for over a year. The entirety of human civilization got a little weird. My donkey mug makes me smile now. We have a fun, supportive little community and the best cult leader anyone could hope for. I wouldn't change it for the world.
Thanks Dan. I think this, for me, was your best First Draft so far. I especially enjoyed your take, and advice on the A-Level style question. Would have loved to see the cow and the parakeets, who were making some lovely background noise. You’re very good at painting a picture in your listeners mind. Top man.
Great podcast today. I just joined last night and am thrilled and so grateful I did. I liked your wide ranging answer to the War and Rebellion question (which I find a bit of a trick questions designed to figure out how much of the subject the student had been paying attention to), because you elaborated on the things I enjoyed so much about Power and Thrones, which is that it's impossible to quantify 1000 years of history down to one thing. Thank you!
I'm taking my very own young, sweet, beautiful, Catherine Howard type girl to the Demon Slayer tea house in Houston this afternoon, then we're shopping in Chinatown before dinner at a Korean BBQ place. If all goes well I won't be listening to this until sometime tomorrow... or maybe even Sunday?! Women are absolutely divine. Why would anyone ever hurt a woman?

I agree James and I must say that it does mean alot that Dan takes the time and effort for his fans/followers. It's lovely that he gives a ****

Glad, hee hee. But it really is cool to 'belong' somewhere, as I am kinda that weird woman who loves history to my colleagues
To my wife I am that husband
Well who wants to be like everyone else? It's fascinating stuff (plus Dan is pretty easy on the eye 😁)

5 mins in and want to know what the cow looks like and where did the dog go?
I also wish to see this trans friendly cow graffiti
I love marginalia so much I have some as tattoos :D Some squiggles from the Book of Deer
My next tattoo is the marginalia hedgehog with the red and green dots 🦔🔴🟢

Loved every minute! Thank you Dan for answering my question and all the others as well. Always very insightful. You are a bloody hero.

I know of a few women who were/are quite a bit less than divine!
You ARE a bloody great hero...or something
Always entertaining even if I don’t totally understand what you’re talking about. I’m calling my husband ‘trumpet ass’ for the rest of the day.
Does Prince do pawtographs?
Another good podcast, Dan.
