Featuring the Apocalypse, snacks in space, the future of historical archives, whether or not I need a research assistant, a long account of my character flaws, and a possible medical situation...
As always enjoyed the podcast. I have to thank you for getting me interested in British history with various documentaries you’ve done. And books you’ve written. Because of you I was able to recognize names from history… I was doing genealogy for a person whose 23rd great grandmother was first married to Piers Gaveston…I was so excited because I recognized his name and knew who he was! Then found out her 23rd great grandfather was Roger Mortimer !!! And yet another 23rd great grandfather was right there when Piers lost his head! I I was thrilled I knew who everyone was. When I was telling the lady’s family about their “famous” ancestors most were unimpressed. At that moment I wanted to tell you about all my discoveries; I felt you would at least be somewhat impressed! Hope you’re feeling better!

That was fun! I always enjoy these podcasts. Hopefully the icky feeling was more of a response to your previous joust with COVID and not the result of a new case slamming a lance into your chest. Have a great day!
Also while thinking about it. Do you suffer from hay fever at all? It’s been particularly bad the last few days. I’m fully dosed up and I’ve been coughing and having issues breathing with it.
Genius as usual. I love it when you randomly talk about history, your life, your surroundings, that makes it all so real and I always have the impression that this is, as you said, a combox message of a good friend. Hope you never change the format, it is great! Looking forward to your next messages. Anyway I hope you’re ok and didn’t get a cold or worse.
Wait... so if I give you some pitted green olives with a cold pint of Stella you'll tell me all about Persian history in your sexy podcast voice? Did I hear that right?
And you are 100% the frontman, Jones. The brilliant/neurotic primadonna we all know and love. ❤️
I start with a I really do love your style and knowledge Mr Jones and the giggle moments in between but (here it comes, the shit sandwich feedback!) there was a little too much etc and not enough history this week for me. So sorry! Hopefully it is your fatigue this week.
Your historical knowledge and book recommendation knowledge is amazing, so please revert back to a bit more of that x
Great answers, as always; thank you. Hopefully it’s ‘just’ the end of Covid but do a test if you still have any as, allegedly, a lady has caught it again 20 days after being negative from the first bout. Fingers crossed it’s just old age starting…….

I love the randomness! Made me laugh out loud a few times.
Yes to the marmite and peanut butter. Did you know you can get marmite flavoured peanut butter?
Also, hope you don’t have Covid and you feel better soon.
That was fun, although I hope you feel better. Assuming you do, I hope to listen to the next one in a castle in Portugal. That seems appropriate.

Loved the podcast as always. The aeroplane snack you were referring too is called Trail Mix, you can get it in supermarkets.
I thought paradise would be something like this.
