Bonus extra long episode, featuring castle myths, advice about ordering in a restaurant, grammar pedantry and an anecdote about Las Vegas (possibly repetitious)
Dan, you have creased me up today with your get, got and getting, your priceless voice impressions and your apparent hysterics at castle staircases. Thanks for brightening a dull afternoon waiting to collect the dog from his date with the groomers!
I heard the sword stair thing while I was at the Tower of London. I was not a fan of the winding stairs going downstairs of the White Tower. They put the slide in the wrong spot.
I thought quite a lot of things driving me crazy. Now I know. People talking about their sweating. This is disgusting. Thank you Dan for spoiling my Sunday morning coffee…. 🤨
Excellent non-podcast.... whatever that is about. Should we be concerned? If so, *can we get* you an attorney? Or barrister? I'm only teasing... May we retain legal representation on your behalf? I'm AMERICAN, but you probably already figured that out.
I was nearly on the floor in tears as you were doing the castle staircase bit... best part of my weekend by far.

I learned grotesques and gargoyles were added to medieval buildings were pagan. I don't remember which castle, Cathedral, etc. I was standing outside of when I learned that.
BTW, Salisbury Cathedral doesn't have a copy of your book on Magna Carta in their gift shop. I was looking at books. I thought I saw yours, but it was someone else's book.
No fighting Dan Snow. You are super taller than expected and I was shocked at how smol you looked standing next to him on a YT clip on the Crusades. Dan Snow is the Peter Crouch of history dudes.
Also, i never got a postcard for subscribing. 😔 i forgot til you mentioned it here.
I was at Twickenham yesterday for the Grand Final, so have only caught up this morning.
I was making mental notes to reply, however l, my children interrupted my thought process with Father's Day gifts so I can't remember anything I was going to reply with.
I do know that this week's bull session made me laugh and I am pleased to know I order correctly in a restaurant
Just to clarify as I can see here in Portugual our reality is different when it comes to pricing books: the overwhelming majority of books here in Portugal do not have the recommended price on the book flap. That would be heaven. You know a bookstore that actually loves books when the prices are written in pencil inside the book cover or on the first page. The majority of the book stores have their bloody stickers on the cover. There are plenty of places on the cover that don't have anything written on it. That would be a great place to put the sticker. But no. And don't get me started on the sale stickers. Here they are huge. And sometimes hard to take off afterwards.

And the History Channel Faux Ancient Computer take is absolutely spot on...speculative horse shit
I immensely enjoyed the imaginary History Channel programme on ancient computers 😁

It’s the high point of my day - always interesting

"I keep it 98 don't need your two cents" is the American equivalent and I say it to myself all the time.

That creased me up. I'm glad it's not just myself who becomes enraged at the sword hand theory.
That was one of the best threads yet.
