I must admit that I have a long list of people that I would like to see dug up and have their faces re-constructed. The faces take them from abstract figures to humans. That is something I've tried to do mentally as I read about people but the faces make it so much more powerful.

When you go to the Titanic exhibit in Las Vegas, you're given a little card with the name of an actual passenger. You learn where they came from and what "class" they were. At the end of the exhibit you can look them up and see if they lived or died during the tragedy. Quite a few had photos attached. Seeing your person, face to face, was powerful. No longer was he a random name, but a 19 year old Irishman coming to America to seek his fortune. Seeing the past as an individual person with a life is an amazing thing.

There are some great historical creators on TikTok. One I've seen around was an account that does attempt to make paintings and sculptures of real people into a more realistic representation. We tend to deify historical figures, but it's nice to see what they may have looked like in the prime of their lives. I do also admire facial reconstructions of skulls too. I couldn't help but wonder what historical figures looked like.
