Oh stop it Dan! I haven’t been back a week and I can’t stop looking back at pics and videos, occasionally when my mind wanders shedding a tear remembering a fabulous week of my life spent as a tourist-nomad. I must have looked totally ridiculous in my woman's best leggings and raidlight sand gaters over my hiking boots and my wide brimmed hand stitched hat made out of old truck tarp used to cover goods being transported around Brazil, but I didn’t care because the Berber’s and Saharan guides I spent my week with didn’t care either!

Enjoy! Your top half looks the part, your bottom half doesn't. My camel was called Superman and all my camel man could say in English was 'lovely jubbly'...

I freaking love the desert. Spent Spring break in Joshua Tree and now I have camel envy and nostalgia for rocks and sunshine. Sigh- gotta go to work…..

That is the whitest thing I've ever seen you do, Jones. 😂 Love it! You should create a photo series called "The Epic Adventures of Lil Chonk" 😂❤️

I'm very much a city person. Anything over one hour in nature and around big animals has me curled up in a foetal position softly moaning. However, I'm very pleased everybody here DOES enjoy it, so you can all report back to me. Sitting in a comfy chair reading about it is highly enjoyable, so thank you and keep it coming. Much appreciated!

I confess I have bad feelings about camels. I like them, but…

when I was a teenager, we lived in Italy because my father was diplomat. The rest of my family stayed home and I went with him to Jordan. I insisted a lot, because I really wanted go to Petra. I was almost 16 years old. While there, two men approached my father. I was close enough to hear what they were talking about. Both, in perfect english, offered my father several bags of emeralds and diamonds. They wanted to buy me as a gift for their master. My father didn't seem surprised, and of course he refused. The men insisted, because they understood that an educated daughter was very valuable, so they offered also gold and camels. Only in that moment my father identified himself as a diplomat. The men apologized immediately and talked to a woman who approached me. She put a beautiful bracelet in my hand in silence and they went away . I didn't say a single word for the rest of the trip.

Pdt. If you haven't been to Petra, then I highly recommend putting it on your list. Another Dr. Jones in Petra could be fantastic! ( And the next time call your camel habibi!)

what a wonderful picture Dan! Apparently I had the same one taken in the desert sands of the United Arab Emirates just a week ago. Desert is fascinating! Loved the falcons too

Take plenty of pictures, those going. Have a great time.

I have caught the travel bug. Unfortunately, travel is expensive. I'm debating between Scotland and Ireland for my next trip. One does simply not do two-and-a-half days in Scotland and be done with it. Edinburgh and St. Andrews were lovely. I have a ton of pictures.

I'm glad your thoughts whilst sitting on a camel are the same as mine. Although mine are usually minus the highfalootin and hard on the please don't decide to canter!

I hope your camel didn't also spit on your pristine western pants and trainers! Was it a holiday or are you researching in the desert?
