WOULD YOU LIKE TO NAME A CHARACTER IN 'WOLVES OF WINTER'?
I have a no-eared East Anglian villain making a re-appearance in my new book. Subscribers - help me give him a name!
I’ve been quiet this week because I’ve been busy getting my ass kicked. To be totally honest with you, I’ve never had so much work to do all at once.
We’re recording the second season of my Plantagenet podcast This Is History: A Dynasty To Die For, which launches at the end of this month. It’s sounding amazing. But it’s tight, technical work getting the scripts in shape and the narration sounding elite.
We’re finishing off a huge new TV series, due to air in the UK later this year.
I’ve been writing an essay about pirates for a national newspaper.
Reviewing a couple of books.
Launching Powers & Thrones in Poland.
And TRYING to finish my second novel, Wolves of Winter, the second book in the Essex Dogs trilogy.
Anyway. That’s what I’ve been doing. Moan moan whine whine. And here it is, Friday lunchtime, and I haven’t written a Substack post all week.
So here’s something I hope you’ll find fun. I have a cameo in Wolves of Winter for one or possibly two of the East Anglian villains from Essex Dogs. Remember the no-eared man in Shaw’s crew? And the guy with the M burned into his face?
As far as I remember (and I know I should know this stuff) they don’t actually have names. But I need to give them names.
So here’s your chance. Give me one or two name suggestions in the comments section below. I’ll pick the one/s I like the best and they’ll appear in the book. I’ll send the person/s who suggest/s the name/s a signed first edition of the book when it comes out in October.
Subject to blah blah and so forth.
Bear in mind I need plausible names. M-face Mc-M-facey-face is not what I’m after. Don’t be annoying.
Sound like a fun game?
Over to you.
Have a great weekend! I’ll be working.
Dan x
PS - you’ll have to be a paid Substack subscriber to comment. Sorry! That’s how it is.
