I’ve been writing a lot these last couple weeks - and doing a lot, I suppose.
In no particular order, I’ve had dinner (on November 5th) in the room in the Tower of London where Guy Fawkes was tortured… stayed in a house built in the year that Henry VIII died… hosted a heavy metal album launch… signed 350 more copies of the new special edition of my book The Hollow Crown (order here)… hosted a special podcast for the RNLI, remembering British lifeboat crews in the Second World War (listen here)… finished writing and recording the eighth season of my podcast This Is History (listen here)… AND as of about five minutes ago, finished writing a special Christmas miniseries of the podcast. Christmas! Wow. Oh, and my next book, THE CASTLE, is well underway and on course for publication in Autumn 2026.
Then there are a bunch of fun things that I can’t tell you about just yet. Movies, books, projects of the top secret variety, and more. Sorry to have been quiet. It’s not you - it’s me.

On Monday 17th November I’m giving a lecture in Southwark Cathedral for the Churches Conservation Trust. It’s going to be great.
