LET'S ALL GO TO FRANCE IN 2026
Sign up now to join me on a week-long tour of Plantagenet France in April next year - subscribers get a $125 discount
Next spring I will be hosting a historical tour to France, with my friends at Author Fan Travel and (very excitingly) the great Helen Castor.
This will be the third tour I’ve hosted. They’re great fun.
Booking is now open.
(For my paid subscribers there is also a $125 discount - details below.)
Itinerary
This time the tour will be by riverboat, beginning and ending in Paris. Helen and I will be giving talks along the way.
There will be plenty of locations relating to Helen’s books and my own, so you can expect plenty of insight into our own work as well as the medieval history of this beautiful part of France.
Below is the outline itinerary - subject to tweaks.
You can book now via the Author Fan Travel website.
April 5, 2026: Paris
Passengers are welcome to board our ship at 6:00 p.m. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we'll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. Enjoy a traditional evening of entertainment with a "Titi Parisien" theme. We will start our amazing history program with a talk tonight. Our ship will sail through the night.
April 6, 2026: Paris-Les Andelys-Honfleur
This morning will be spent cruising towards Les Andelys, an occasion to enjoy the magnificent view of the Roche Guyon. Join the hosts on an excursion to the Château de Martainville.
We'll return on board and continue cruising towards Honfleur. During the time we are sailing, we will have a variety of talks by our hosts.
April 7, 2026: Honfleur
Today we have the opportunity to join a full-day excursion to the Landing Beaches. One of the great turning points of the 20th century happened in France during the D-Day Landings of the Allied Forces in Normandy. We will have the opportunity to hear more from our incredible hosts after our excursion. If you choose not to travel to the Landing Beaches, you can have free time in Honfleur.
April 8, 2026: Honfleur-Rouen
This morning will be spent cruising towards Rouen. In the afternoon, join us on a guided tour of Rouen. Tonight's our gala dinner and evening. Our ship will cruise through the night. We will be accompanied on our excursion by our hosts and will have a panel discussion with our hosts while we are on board.
April 9, 2026: Rouen-Paris
This morning will be spent sailing towards Paris along the banks of the Seine. We'll cruise past the impressive concrete and glass buildings of the futuristic business district of La Défense, reaching Paris in the early afternoon. Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking at 9:00 a.m.
