BRAND NEW! THE WARS OF THE ROSES
You can now watch every episode of my podcast on YouTube
****French adventure special notice****
In April, Helen Castor and I will be leading a five-day riverboat tour of medieval France with our friends at Author Fan Travel.
The trip is sold out - but one cabin has become available on the boat: click here if you want to join us.
Hello friends,
Happy new year - and merry Epiphany, to those who celebrate the birthday of Richard II.
There are many things I’m excited about sharing with you in 2026. Here is one of them.
I know many of you listen to my podcast, This Is History, where for the last few years I’ve been telling the story of Plantagenet England in weekly instalments.
Season 9 launches today, with the first episode of a blockbuster 24-part Wars of the Roses special. And as of right now you can watch the damn thing.
Yes, that’s right. We are now filming each episode, bedtime-story style, so you can watch it, as well as listen on Apple podcasts, Spotify, Patreon etc.
I think it gives the show a whole new vibe - although it does mean I can no longer stumble into the studio with my ripped tracky-bs and Crocs on and narrate the show with my feet on the desk.
Or… maybe I can.
Anyway, please have a look at the show - and if you’d care to subscribe to the YouTube channel (youtube.com/@thisishistorypod), well, so much the better.
Meanwhile, if you want to dive deeper into the Wars of the Roses story, I have a book for that. The Hollow Crown (aka The Wars of the Roses) has just had a refresh via The Broken Binding’s history imprint Millennia Books.
You can get signed, numbered special editions here. And for my Substack paid subscribers, I’ve got a code that will give you 10% off the cover price. See below…
Okay. Back to my toil. I’ve got a new book to finish…
Happy new year!
dan
